Scholarship award winner announced

We have a winner. I traveled to the mecca of high school basketball today. That would be Pike High School for those of you that don't know. I went there on a mission to give someone $2000.00. Today was the day that I awarded my new scholarship. To refresh your memory, the scholarship was setup from the proceeds of my books sales, and was to be given to a first generation college student at Pike High School. I believe that it was this student's destiny. Destiny Lloyd is the winner. She will be attending Indiana State University in the fall. She hopes to work in marketing at a record label some day. She works everyday after school serving meals at a retirement home. She is the child of a single mom who works incredibly hard to provide for her family.

I met with Destiny today, and I am very proud of her. She realizes that she can do anything she wants in life. She made it a goal of hers to go to college, and I have little doubt that she will work for a record label someday. My hope was to help provide a better opportunity for someone that is in touch with their future success. I hope this little extra money helps Destiny fulfill her destiny.

Side note: They are tearing down my old football stadium. It was quite sad to see. I threw many untimely interceptions on that field. I threw three interceptions in the first half of our homecoming game, and managed to only throw one more after the half. I am guessing they won't name the new stadium after me. Oh well.
